Tutka Bay Retreat
July 11-15, 2013.
Lead by Molly O'Neill, essayist, food writer and memoirist, this intimate retreat will take place in a luxury wilderness lodge that is a forty-minute water taxi ride from Homer, Alaska. Removed from the usual sights, sounds, smells --- and distractions --- of modern life, writers will be immersed into a ravishing wilderness and offered the opportunity to delve into the sensory aspects of food writing.
Through timed writing exercises, as well as instruction by three masters of the craft, Cook ‘n Scribble at Tutka Bay aims to keen the senses and to expand the writer's awareness of the rhythms and realities of the natural world and its effect on voice and point-of-view in food narrative, personal essay, blog posts and memoir.
Cost includes all housing, meals prepared by award-winning chef Kirsten Dixon and house wines with meals. Two guided half-day wilderness adventures, all instruction and workshops as well as transportation transfers on the day of arrival and on the day of departure from Homer, Alaska, to Tutka Bay Lodge are included in the cost. Premium wines, spa services and additional adventures are available at the lodge on an a la carte basis. Additional transportation transfer fees not scheduled are $75 per one-way.
